Abstract
Contract caterer Aramark has secured a new deal with Wirral Metropolitan College which sees the company investing in refurbished dining space, a new Starbucks café and a new food offering.

The five-year, £2.4m contract is based at the college’s split campus site in Birkenhead.

Under the contract, the Conway Park campus features a refurbished ground floor reception and catering area, creating a new ‘grab and go’ outlet and a new social space for students.

Designed together with both students and the college, the food offer also features internationally-influenced street food such as cajun spiced Quorn Jambalya and Peri Peri chicken, and theatre cookery creating dishes such as Char Sui pork wrap.

Meanwhile, the Twelve Quays campus offers a hot meal service and a ‘grab and go’ offer, as well as a new Starbucks café.

Tracey Smith, business development director – education, Aramark commented:  “It has been exciting and a privilege to work with the college to design the new facilities and create a food and beverage offer aimed at increasing student satisfaction levels and increasing sales.  The education market is increasingly competitive and outstanding new facilities can be a real differentiator for both staff and students.  We look forward to developing our proposition further throughout the life of the contract.”

Sue Wysocki, marketing manager for the college, added:  “Wirral Met College is delighted to be working in partnership with Aramark, who have played a major role in the design of our café / refectory provision.  Aramark has been very receptive to the ideas and contributions from college students, who have played an important role in informing both the design of the area layout, and also the menu offer.”
