Abstract
Apprentice 1st has announced the appointment of Andrew Wallbank to lead the business development of its online hospitality apprenticeships portal.

With more than 16 years’ experience in work-based learning and apprenticeships, Andrew will focus on meeting and engaging with employers and stakeholders to help grow Apprentice 1st’s product and services, and promote the benefits of employing an apprentice.

Martine Pullen, who is responsible for the Apprentice 1st programme, said that Andrew will make a valuable contribution to the team: “Andrew’s background in engaging with small to medium businesses about apprenticeships will mean he can make an invaluable contribution to the future and development of Apprentice 1st. He knows what they need from apprenticeships – and will gain the understanding of the product to ensure that employers benefit from the solution while identifying further areas of development.”

Norman Jennings, Apprentice 1st board member, added: “Andrew’s appointment means we can really get the message out about what Apprentice 1st has to offer. By making it easier for employers to access apprenticeships, we hope more businesses will take on an apprentice.”

Wallbank said that he is excited to be working with a product that meets the needs of both learners and employers: “I’ve worked with apprenticeship providers for many years, but Apprentice 1st offers something entirely new for the hospitality industry. It’s fantastic to work for an organisation that’s passionate about and committed to helping employers develop staff.”

The Apprentice 1st online portal was launched in October and allows employers of all sizes, learners and training providers to access every aspect of an apprenticeship, including coursework, assessments and practical training material, from a single screen online.
