Anglia Crown launches dementia-friendly range
Abstract
Anglia Crown, the chilled and frozen food manufacturer for hospitals and the healthcare sector, has developed a range of over 50 dishes to support those with dementia.

Soups that can be consumed from a mug and main meals cut into manageable pieces will be included in the range, which aims to encourage greater independence for patients, particularly those with dementia.

Paul Howell, head of commercial at Anglia Crown, said: “We identified a clear need for an alternative dining solution for certain patient groups such as those with dementia.

“We are therefore extremely proud to launch our new finger food range which introduces a wide range of easy-to-eat menu options that don’t require the use of cutlery. The range will help these patient groups enjoy a nutritious meal throughout their hospital stay.”

The range comes as greater awareness of the need for finger food in hospitals has arisen through the Patient-Led Assessments of the Care Environment (PLACE) process, introduced in 2013.

The PLACE system assesses the patient environment and how it supports patients in privacy, dignity, food, cleanliness and general building maintenance.

The range, which features both chilled and frozen options, is part of the company’s Crown Choice offering.
