Abstract
Amadeus has secured a £12m contract in Belfast to operate the catering function at four major visitor attractions.

The contract caterer will oversee operations at Belfast Castle, Malone House, Belfast Zoo and the Stables coffee shop in Sir Thomas and Lady Dixon Park.

The catering arm for the NEC Group will begin a five-year contract in December 2016 and this is the second major win for Amadeus in Northern Ireland after it won a £16 million contract with Belfast Waterfront and Ulster Hall in April this year.

Kevin Watson, managing director of Amadeus said: “We are delighted to have been awarded the contract with Belfast City Council for the catering management of Belfast City Zoo, Belfast Castle, The Stables restaurant and Malone House. We celebrated our 40th birthday this year and our vast amount of knowledge in retail, conference and banqueting and events catering made us best placed to deliver this exciting contract in Belfast.

“We share Belfast City Council’s aspirations for the visitor sites and we will be looking to draw more interest to the venues to support the local economy. At Amadeus we place the customer experience at the heart of everything we do. I know the team already have plenty of ideas for the four venues that will excite visitors.”

Amadeus has catered for the NEC Group’s four million annual visitors for over 40 years at more than 900 events each year. It also has contracts at Cadbury World, Dudley Zoo, the Scottish Open, The Library of Birmingham and Stoneleigh Abbey.
