Of the 1,100 British workers surveyed, 77% in catering admitted that they ‘think about quitting every day’ – making it number fifth in the top 10 UK industries where professionals dislike their jobs the most.
Other reasons for them feeling unhappy include: feeling undervalued (54%), bored (39%), underpaid (39%) and having no room for progression (38%).
Founder and managing director of CV-Library (who conducted the research), Lee Biggins, said: “As we approach the end of the year, many workers begin to consider whether it’s time for a career change, perhaps even making work-based resolutions for the year ahead.
“Job satisfaction is important to today’s professionals – and this is understandable. Work is a big part of our lives, especially as we spend a significant amount of our time there. Enjoying what you do is extremely important, particularly when it comes to establishing a good work-life balance.
“If you find yourself unhappy at work, it’s important to identify why you feel this way and put measures in place to try and make things better.
“You might find you’re able to fall in love with your job again. That said, if you continue to feel dissatisfied in your role, it could be time to look for a job that better meets your needs, elsewhere.”
