21/07/2017 - 09:06
The National Association of Care Catering (NACC) will be hosting its annual Training and Development Forum in Nottingham from 4-6 October, to coincide with NACC’s 30th anniversary. The organisation will present its 2017 awards on Thursday 5 October during the gala dinner.

The awards, which celebrate dedication, innovation and exceptional service within the industry, include: Care Establishment of the Year; Meals on Wheels Award; Catering Team of the Year; Catering Manager of the Year; Our Care Catering Hero; Region of the Year; Pam Rhodes Outstanding Achievement Award; and National Chairman’s Award.

Neel Radia, national chair of the NACC, said: “As well as providing insight, guidance and a platform for debate, the forum is also a time for reflection and celebration. The NACC Awards are a personal highlight of the event and a fantastic opportunity to pause and recognise the great achievements of the association.”

The two-day training event will also see a number of expert speakers discuss the latest developments and innovations in care catering, tackle current challenges, and update and inspire delegates with new guidance, ideas and best practice.

As well as this, there will be a series of culinary demonstrations, supplier meetings and exhibitions, and networking and entertainment opportunities for care professionals. Included in the itinerary is a showing of the play ‘Don’t leave me now’, which explores the impact of early onset dementia and is inspired by two real-life stories; chief executive of Hertfordshire Independent Living Services (HILS), Sarah Wren will present ‘Upset the apple cart – or crumble’ and consider disruptive innovation in health and social care; whilst motivational speaker, Niger Risner, will share the importance of the IMPACT code.

To mark the NACC’s 30th anniversary, there will be a cake competition taking place with all shortlisted designs to be viewed, tasted and judged at the forum on 5th October. To enter, candidates must create an original single-tier celebration cake and submit their paper entry by 4th August. All finalists will receive a free day delegate place at the forum (worth £240) and the winning cakes will be included in the afternoon tea served at the event.

Radia added: “The NACC Training & Development Forum is always a highlight of the association’s and care catering sector’s calendar. This year, our 30th anniversary year, it’s more special than ever and a real cause for celebration, as well as continued learning and debate.”
