  • Walkers crisps used to find that golf balls could sneak through its production process because they have the same density as a potato and weren’t identified as a foreign object. To eliminate the problem it now sources potatoes only from farms well away from golf courses.
  • If you have a trip planned to America anytime soon, make sure you're in the know about US-style biscuits to avoid any confusion. Ask for a biscuit in America and you'll get a 'quick bread' resembling more of a soft British scone than a crunchy biscuit – these are often savoury and eaten for breakfast.
  • In light of pancake day fast approaching, are you aware that, in total, Brits use an unbelievable 52 million eggs on Pancake Day. That’s 22 million more than any other day.
  • If you put lemons and limes in water, lemons will float and limes will sink. Why? Because although lemons are usually bigger in size and heavier in weight, they have the same density as water and have small pores around the rind which allow them to float to the surface, whereas limes are denser than water so naturally they sink.
  • If you were surprised that an avocado is technically a fruit and not veg, how about the fact that a strawberry isn't actually a berry – but a banana is.
