University and independent caterers among nominees for Food Made Good Awards

The shortlist for the Food Made Good Awards has been released and features five university and two contract caterers among the nominees in the 17 categories.

Those shortlisted include Plymouth University, Cardiff Metropolitan University, London School of Economics (LSE) and Artizian Catering Services.

The awards are run by The Sustainable Restaurant Association (SRA) and aim to celebrate British hospitality businesses, chefs and suppliers.

Categories include the Treat Staff Fairly award in which Sheffield Halam University feature, and the Feed People Well award, which has Artizian and LSE as nominees and is given to the business doing the most to support adults and kids to make 'good choices' when eating out.

Sheffield Halam Univiersity are also shortlisted for the Value Natural Resources award alongside Pizza Hut and Les Orangeries, Lussac Les Chateaux hotel.

SRA president Raymond Blanc, who is curating the lunch at the ceremony, said: “The Food Made Good Awards are so critical, recognising the work and commitment of individuals and organisations responsible for bringing new ethics to our food production, and sharing those values in our kitchens and with consumers.

“The awards truly remind us why we are so proud to work in this industry. Food and its production touches every part of our lives; it will define the society and communities of tomorrow, as well as our health and the health of the planet.

Other awards include the People's Favourite Restaurant award and the Reduce Reuse Recycle award, given to the business whose way of keeping as much as possible out of landfill is most 'impactful'.
