Tickets on sale for Zest Quest Asia awards dinner

Tickets are now on sale for Zest Quest Asia 2019 gala dinner and awards – the student culinary cooking competition co-founded by chef Cyrus Todiwala.

Taking place at Hilton London Heathrow Airport Terminal 5 – home to Mr. Todiwala's Kitchen restaurant - on 8 February, this year’s annual event will feature host Nigel Barden (BBC Radio 2 food and drink broadcaster) and special guest chef Ken Hom.

As well as announcing this year’s winner, who will have competed at the venue earlier in the day, the event will include a ‘stunning’ five-course dinner created by Todiwala himself.

The 2019 finalist teams are: Colchester Institute; Farnborough College of Technology; New City College; North Hertfordshire College; University of West London; and Westminster Kingsway College.

Todiwala commented: “I hope as many people as possible will come to the Zest Quest Asia 2019 Gala Dinner and Awards Night.

“It’s going to be a great evening celebrating skills and ambition, and we’re planning an interesting menu to support the students, their colleges, parents and friends on the night.

“Of course, there will be the announcement of the first prize Asian destination at the end of the night.”

The five-course dinner comprises:

  • Seafood platter
  • Salmon wrapped in banana leaf with rice
  • urried beef mince with rice
  • Chicken wing wrapped in rice
  • Spiced turkey minced with rice
  • (Pre-dessert) Granny Gothard devilish chocolate sorbet
  • Chef Jerome Dreux’s crater of mango and coconut with mango and raspberry coulis

Barden said: “I’m so looking forward to hosting Zest Quest Asia. Not only is it a fabulous opportunity to showcase talented young Asian chefs who have reached the final of the competition, but to spend time in the company of Cyrus and Pervin Todiwala, who are marvellous ambassadors for the food and drink industry.

“It’ll be an evening of celebration, excellent food and great banter.”
