Westminster Food & Nutrition Forum is holding a keynote seminar entitled ‘The Future of food regulation in the UK post-Brexit: standards, delivery and the supply chain’.

The event will take place on April 24 and will examine key issues for the future of food regulation and regulation across the UK.

Heather Hancock, chair of Food Standards Agency, will be taking part as will Stephen Pugh, EU food labelling specialist, who will contribute to the discussion on how changes to food regulation will affect food labelling. The talk will make reference to the Government’s commitment to develop a ‘gold standard’ for labelling to signify quality in British produce.

Delegates will discuss proposals for a new regulatory framework and will look at priorities for the sector as it awaits these changes.

Sessions will explore the practicalities of moving towards the risk-based approach to regulation outlined by the FSA, as well as the best way to cater for an evolving and increasingly diverse sector.

The seminar’s overall agenda includes: current challenges and opportunities with regard to food regulation, priorities for the FSA and its vision for the future of regulation, the role of the EFSA and priorities for the supply chain.
