Phil Campion: Closing the HCA forum
06/02/2019 - 06:00
SAS success story ‘Big’ Phil Campion will be aiming to lift the spirits of hospital caterers when he delivers the closing presentation at this year’s Hospital Caterers Association (HCA) Leadership & Development Forum.

From an unpromising start in life when he was given up for adoption and raised by violent adoptive parents, he has since served with distinction as a Royal Marines Commando and in the Parachute Regiment before joining the Special Air Service (22 SAS).

He has commanded teams of up to 100 around the globe and invented a digital dog tag that has revolutionised personal security and medical care in remote danger zones.

Organisers say Phil's story is one of ‘enormous inspiration, proving how the human spirit can endure against all odds and achieve the remarkable’.

The forum takes place at Celtic Manor Resort in South Wales from 11-12 April.

The agenda has been set based on responses to an HCA member survey which asked:

* What matters to you most as catering professionals in today’s NHS?

* What topics you want to debate and learn more about?

* What you want the HCA to lobby Government to improve in OUR industry?

Health service commentator Roy Lilley has been signed up to be the conference chair, and sessions will cover procurement, food waste and training.

A highlight will be an awards night dinner on April 11th and running alongside the forum will be an exhibition of key healthcare foodservice suppliers showing off the latest in product development for the sector.
