The National Association of Care Catering (NACC) will tackle ‘key issues and challenges’ in care catering during its annual Training & Development Forum (3-5 October).

Taking place at the East Midlands Conference Centre (Nottingham), the event is aimed at anyone responsible for, or associated with catering in the care sector.

A jam-packed itinerary will see expert speakers address The International Dysphagia Diet Standardisation Initiative; myths surrounding food allergies; confusions within nutritional groups; and improving mealtime experience for residents with dementia.

Offering ‘new perspectives’ on the latest innovations, ideas, standards and guidelines relating to care catering, this year’s line-up includes: Eric Evers

(Canadian Society of Nutrition Management); Dr Ben Hanson (University College London); Alexia Robinson (Love British Food/ British Food Fortnight); and 2016 Great British Bake Off winner, Candice Brown.

There will also be training workshops, live culinary demonstrations, supplier meetings and of course, the supplier exhibition.

Then, on 4 October, NACC will announce its 2018 Awards winners at a gala dinner. Titles include: Care Establishment of the Year, Catering Manager of the Year, Our Care Catering Hero, Region of the Year and the National Chairman’s Award.

“It really is an inspirational event.

“We’ve got an action-packed, relevant programme lined up that addresses and offers practical guidance to deal with the ever-evolving challenges that the care catering sector faces.

“I’m also thrilled to welcome Eric Evers from the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management. It’s always fascinating and beneficial to hear the challenges and solutions of our overseas colleagues. I’m sure he’ll give us plenty to think about.

“As well as learning new skills and perspectives, the forum is also a place of camaraderie and celebration. The NACC Awards are a personal highlight of the event and it’s always a pleasure to recognise and celebrate the great work, passion and ingenuity of individuals and teams on the front line.

“It’s going to be a great forum and I urge everyone to join in and reap the many benefits it offers.”
