  • Porridge company Quaker Oats fully financed the film 'Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.'  They wanted to use it to promote a new candy bar they were going to release, ‘ Wonka,' which is also why they changed the name from 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory' to 'Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory'. When the film was released however and they began marketing the bars, an error in the chocolate formula caused them to melt too easily and they were taken off the market
