Children's dietary survey needed, says FSA

03/06/2009 - 00:00
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) is inviting proposals to design and carry out a dietary survey of children living in Scotland.

The survey will use a food frequency questionnaire (FFQ) to measure and collect data on the intake of non-milk extrinsic sugars (NMES) and fat (total and saturated) expressed as a percentage of total energy intake among children aged 3-16 years. The study will also collect information on meals and snacking habits with additional emphasis on those foods eaten outside the home. This information will be important to measure progress towards the Scottish Dietary Targets and will be used to inform new policy initiatives aimed at children. The deadline for applications is 7 August 2009.
