Caterer Kudos to use fewer paper cups at RAF Museum

London-based contract catering firm, Kudos, has pledged to use fewer paper cups at its RAF Museum, Cosford, facilities as it looks to reduce its impact on the environment.

At the caterer’s Refuel Café retail outlet at the museum, the paper cups have been swapped for China mugs.

The mugs have been designed to look like well-worn enamel tin mugs, in keeping with themes in both the café and the exhibits throughout the site.

Kudos operations director, Nigel Hutson said: "In the period from November 2016 to November 2017, we have used 91,000 disposable cups and 34,000 plastic lids at the museum - the majority of which ended up in landfill sites.

“Taking the conscious decision to opt for a greener material to serve beverages in will almost certainly see this figure drop to virtually no disposable cups used on site.

"We are thrilled the RAF Museum, Cosford shares our environmentally centred approach to providing food and drink. Alongside our locally sourced ingredients that go into recipes for the health conscious consumer, the new china mugs will help to maintain a level of excellence that is of paramount importance."

The company says it is looking to implement the same initiative in other “appropriate” venues which it operates at.

Kudos’s other contracts includes Harvey Nichols, Civil Aviation Authority, Central Hall Westminster and The John Smith’s Stadium, home of Premier League football team, Huddersfield Town.
